MIDVALE, Utah — A police chase led to a crash and arrest Monday night.
Unified Police said they responded to a call of a drunk driver in the area of 500 West and 7200 South in Midvale. They said the call came in from a citizen who noticed a car swerving between lanes.
Authorities said the car was swerving amongst multiple lanes on State Street when they initiated a traffic stop. They said the driver didn’t stop, and increased speed.
“He was driving very erratically– slow speeds about 20 miles an hour,” said Unified Police Lt. Steve Shreeve. “At one point he stopped, got out of the car, got back into the car and took off.”
According to police, the driver attempted a right turn at about 45 miles per hour, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked car.
The driver suffered minor injuries, and was taken into custody.
Officers said the driver was seriously impaired, but they haven’t said whether alcohol was the main factor in the impairment.
