MURRAY, Utah -- Two teenagers are dead after a shooting in Murray Saturday.

The shooting happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. at a home at 859 W. Potomac Drive.

Police said Andrew Nelson, 15, and Ashton Peck, 13, were found at the scene with gunshot wounds. Both teenagers died from their injuries.

"It's just sad that Andrew and Ashton had to die so young," said Gabby, a friend of the boys. 'It's just terrible that it had to happen like this and all their friends will miss them."

Police said they are confident the boys were the only ones involved in the shooting, but what exactly took place my never by known.

"Ballistics will take you to one certain part, but unfortunately you never know exactly, for sure what happened in a situation like this and we may never know," said Det. Jeff Maglish, Murray Police.

When police arrived, they found Peck, a seventh grader at Riverview Junior High, dead from a single gunshot wound. Nelson, who had just started Murray High School, had also been shot and was rushed to a local hospital. The gun was found at the scene.

School district officials said extra grief counselors were on hand for students and staff at both schools Monday.

Police said the families of the boys are grieving together as one since the boys, best friends, were like brothers.
