PROVO CANYON, Utah – A teenage boy was seriously injured after he fell while hiking in the Stewart Falls area above Sundance in Provo Canyon Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Utah County sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call shortly before 6 p.m. reporting that a 13-year-old boy had fallen.
After the fall, the boy was unconscious for several minutes. The victim regained consciousness, but his condition began to deteriorate. He sustained a deep laceration to the side of his head and possible knee and elbow injuries.
Emergency crews with North Fork Fire Department and the Utah County Sheriff’s office responded to the scene, and the boy was taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children’s Medical Center in serious condition.
