PROVO, Utah – Police arrested a man on Sept. 11 who allegedly met a teen girl on Facebook, invited her to meet and then raped her.
Juan Antonio Gonzalez, 31, was arrested by detectives from Provo Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit and charged with rape, unlawful sex act with a minor and unlawful possession of another’s identification.
According to information from the Provo Police Department, a 14-year-old female told police that on August 20 she was allegedly raped by Gonzalez. She told police the relationship began on Facebook in January.
The teen told police the man requested a meeting with her, and during the two times they met Gonzalez allegedly, “raped and had unlawful sex acts with the minor.”
Police used an alias to set up a meeting with Gonzalez at a Provo City location. When officers made contact with the man, he handed them another person’s identification. Gonzalez was booked into the Utah County Jail on the charges mentioned above.
