Approximately 100 members of the Utah Army National Guard's 1457th Engineer Battalion will head to Colorado Thursday as part of.
The group, known as Task Force Pioneer, will help assist in rebuilding efforts following the massive flooding in several Colorado communities. One of the goals will be to help with route clearance, route maintenance and debris removal along U.S. Highway 36 in Boulder and Larimer Counties.
According to the Utah National Guard, because of uncertainty of budget constraints and a possible government shutdown, the 1457th will transport vehicles and equipment to work sites and then return to Utah. Once the funding issues are resolved, the team will return to Colorado.
Once the 1457th returns to Colorado, the mission is expected to last about two weeks.
