WASHINGTON — If you visited the Federal AMBER Alert website (www.amberalert.gov) Monday morning, it displayed the following message: “Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Programs (OJP) website is unavailable.”
The website has since gone back online.
AMBER stands for “America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response.”
According to NBC LA, “It remained unclear Sunday night exactly how the shutdown might otherwise reduce an Amber Alert’s effectiveness, if one should be issued during the shutdown.”
