Man ditches drugs out car window during chase, police say

WEST JORDAN — A man reportedly threw marijuana out of his car window while fleeing police early Saturday morning, West Jordan Police said.

At approximately 2 a.m. a 21-year-old man fled from police after a West Jordan patrol officer attempted to stop him for a traffic violation in the area of 9000 South and 4000 West, said West Jordan Police Officer Mike Kiesel.

The suspect allegedly threw marijuana out the car window during the pursuit. Kiesel did not know how much was tossed out.

After a short pursuit the suspect was stopped and arrested.

Kiesel said the man has pending charges of driving under the influence, a traffic violation and a couple of outstanding warrants.

The suspect was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
