CEDAR CITY — A man died from his injuries Friday afternoon after being found assaulted in Cedar City earlier this week, officials said.
Cedar City Police responded to an assault in progress at 8:12 a.m. on Oct. 9. When they arrived on scene they found Bryan Mahue Mellor, 59, severely beaten on the sidewalk, Cedar City Police said.
Brandon Sappington , 30, of Cedar City, was arrested on scene in connection with the assault.
Mellor was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas Friday where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Sappington was booked in the Iron County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, two counts of assault by prisoner, a third-degree felony, and second-degree murder.
Bail has been set at $500,000.
