SALT LAKE CITY — Six residents were displaced after a fire broke out in their apartment building early Saturday morning, Salt Lake fire officials said.

The cause was an electrical issue with a bathroom fan, fire investigators said.

Salt Lake Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at 2:28 a.m. at 2625 Stringham Ave.  The blaze originated in the pipe chase behind a bathroom wall in a second-level apartment unit, officials said. Two apartments suffered fire damage and a third was damaged from forced entry by firefighters.

The Red Cross was on scene to assist residents who needed a place to stay for the night. There were no injuries reported.

Thirty firefighters responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
