SALT LAKE CITY — Utah voters will hit the polls Tuesday to cast ballots for leaders and initiatives in municipalities in hundreds of cities across the state.

One issue that has brought attention to voters is the $495 million bond referendum in the Jordan School District, which is meant to build schools and upgrade facilities.

District officials have experienced backlash from Bluffdale city officials who believe the cost is excessive.

Another election that has grabbed people’s attention is the lift of the alcohol ban in Hyde Park. The northern Utah city is one of few that remain a dry community.

Another race to watch Tuesday is the West Valley City mayoral race where Karen Lang with fight for the open seat against Ron Bigelow. Mayor Mike Winder did not seek re-election.

Pleasant Grove City taxpayers will vote on a $19 million bond for a proposed public safety building.
