A man who played football at Brigham Young University and went on to play professionally with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders died Wednesday morning.
Todd Christensen died from complications from surgery, accordingto a posting on the BYU Cougars twitter account.
"Todd is first and foremost a great player. He is intelligent, loyal, a tough competitor - and he has a great mental attitude toward the game. He knew all the offensive positions very well and could have played any one of them," former BYU football coach LaVell Edwards said of Christensen in Christensen's profile page on BYUCougars.com.
Christensen played for the Cougars from 1974-77 and, in 1982, became a household name as a member of the Raiders.
Christensen retired from professional football in 1987 and went on to work as a commentator on NBC and ESPN.
