WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Police are investigating after a fugitive was found with a gunshot wound Thursday, and the man declined to provide details regarding the shooting.
Police said 36-year-old Stephen Sierra is currently a registered sex offender and was wanted as an AP&P parole fugitive.
When the man asked someone for a cigarette Thursday near 3900 South and 2700 West, that person noticed the wound and called police.
According to a press release from West Valley City police, detectives said Sierra told them: “…it’s karma, I deserve to have been shot.”
However, Sierra has not been cooperative when it comes to sharing further details of the incident.
