Utes beat Huskies to snap skid

SALT LAKE CITY– The Utah men’s basketball team entered Thursday’s game against Washington with seven losses on the season by a combined total of just 26 points.

But close or not, the losses still hurt and the Utes had dropped three straight before facing the Huskies.

But Jordan Loveridge played his way out of a small slump, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, leading Utah to a 78-69 win over Washington.

Loveridge, who played at West Jordan High School, spoiled the final homecoming for Utah native and former Pleasant Grove prep standout C.J. Wilcox, who led the Huskies with 20 points.

Brandon Taylor matched that with 20 points for the Utes and Delon Wright scored 19 as Utah defended home court, where they have only lost once this season.

The win lifts the Utes to 4-6 this season in the PAC-12 (15-7 overall). The Utes host Washington State on Saturday.
