DRAPER, Utah – A Utah high school student competed in a dance competition this weekend, and she dedicated her efforts to her father, who was recently killed in a car accident.
Chantel Townsend’s father died last week, and his funeral was held Thursday; Chantel said she was competing in her father’s honor at the Miss Drill Utah Studio Solo Championship, which was held Thursday and Friday.
Heidi Iverson is one of those involved in competition, and she said in an email to FOX 13 News that the dancers have reached out to Chantel and her family.
“It's heartwarming to watch these girls come together from 24 different teams to support Chantel and her family through this very difficult time,” she said.
Miss Drill Utah was held at Juan Diego Catholic High School. The event was emceed by Savannah Lancaster, who won the title of Miss Drill Utah in 2013 and is the current Miss Teen USA. For more information, visit the organization’s website.
