WEST JORDAN, Utah — West Jordan police were investigating the possible attempted abduction of a young girl Saturday night, but on Sunday officials said the incident didn’t occur as reported.
Sgt. Soper of the West Jordan Police Department said Sunday the girl had made the incident up.
Police said that at about 4 p.m. they responded to a report that a man tried abducting an 11-year-old girl.
The girl told police she was riding her bike near 2300 West 7000 South when a man wearing a black hoodie tried to grab her. Officers said the girl told them she punched the man in the face and ran to her grandparent’s house, where the grandparents called police.
The incident comes at the end of short period of time in which there have been three reports of attempted assaults or abductions on young girls.
