RIVERDALE, Utah – A man faces 14 felony charges for allegedly meeting teen males for sexual acts as well as exchanging explicit messages and images with the boys.

According to a statement of probable cause from Weber County officials, 49-year-old Charles Randall Redwen faces 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of dealing in material harmful to minors, and one count of solicitation sexual exploitation of a minor, all of which are felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of enticement of a minor.

According to the document, police were told Redwen had been communicating with a 15-year-old boy on Facebook. Officers were given permission to take over the social media account, after which they found messages indicating Redwen had arranged to meet with the teen “…for the purpose of engaging in oral sex.” Redwen also sent two pictures of his genitalia to the minor.

Police obtained a search warrant for Redwen’s residence, and upon entry Redwen was advised by officers of his rights per Miranda, and he waived them, according to the document.

According to the document, the suspect admitted to police he had messaged the 15-year-old boy in order to arrange a meeting for oral sex and to sending the two photos. He also admitted to receiving explicit photos from minors, or those he believed to be minors. An officer stated in the probable cause statement that Redwen showed the officer pictures of a second minor, who the officer knew to be a 15-year-old male. There were allegedly 10 pictures of this second minor on Redwen’s cell phone in which the teen was nude or his genitalia was exposed.

Documents indicate Redwen has entered not guilty pleas in response to all charges.
