SALT LAKE CITY – A man is recovering from a gunshot wound and police are searching for the shooter Sunday after an incident that occurred Saturday.
The shooting occurred in the area near 1200 West 1600 South around 4 p.m. Saturday, and police received several reports from people who heard multiple shots fired.
Police responded to the scene but did not find a victim or suspect. However, a short time later a man who had been shot was located a few miles away in Murray. Police were able to determine the man had been shot at the earlier location.
Lt. Josh Scharman of the Salt Lake City Police Department said the man is in stable condition and they are searching for a suspect.
“We know that one person is at a local hospital in stable condition,” he said. “We believe another party that was involved, and may have been our shooter, is described as a male Polynesian adult, maybe late teenager. He's about 6-feet tall with a brown jacket, and he left the area here at 1500 South and Concord.”
Police are investigating the incident. Police said they believe there are individuals out there who may have witnessed the shooting. Police ask anyone with information about the suspect or the alleged crime to contact them at 801-799-3000.
