IRON COUNTY — Two calves had to be put down after falling out of the back of a truck while on Interstate 15 Saturday morning.
At approximately 10:55 a.m., a cattle truck from Parowan was traveling south at freeway speeds while hauling calves from a nearby ranch.
At mile marker 60 the back gate came open causing four calves to tumble out onto the roadway, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. Two of the animals had to be put down because of injuries they sustained when they hit the road.
No other vehicles were involved.
Citations are pending for the driver, according to DPS.
