TOOELE COUNTY, Utah -- Crews responded to eight spot fires on about three acres of area along I-80 in Tooele County Wednesday evening, and portions of eastbound I-80 were closed in the area due to the flames.
By about 8:40 p.m., at least one eastbound lane of I-80 had been reopened and traffic was moving in the area again.
Officials said the fires had been contained.
Dispatch officials in Tooele County confirmed to FOX 13 News there were eight spot fires in an area along I-80 between mile posts 100 and 101, and they said that at one point flames were as high as 8-feet tall in some places.
The fires impact about three acres of area, officials said. It was not clear what caused the fires to ignite.
UDOT Traffic tweeted about the closure of eastbound I-80 at about 7:41 p.m.
