SALT LAKE CITY – A woman died due to injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday night, and two males were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Lt. Dave Craycroft of the Salt Lake City Police Department said the accident occurred in the area of 3800 West and California Avenue when an SUV collided with a bus.
The accident is under investigation, but police said initial reports indicate the bus was traveling southbound on 3800 West and tried to go through a stop sign, which is when it was T-boned by an SUV. Officials did not say if either driver was at fault.
A female passenger in the SUV, identified as 32-year-old Merri Barrett, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died. Two males who were in the SUV, one believed to be in his 30s and the other about 10 years old, were taken to a hospital with injuries an official described as not being life-threatening.
Officials said it isn’t clear if there were passengers on the bus and the vehicle may have been not in service.
