ST. GEORGE, Utah — St. George police announced they made an arrest Friday afternoon in connection with a credit union robbery earlier this week.

Jerry D. Wells, 45, faces a second-degree felony robbery charge.  Wells is suspected of robbing the Mountain America Credit Union branch at 123 River Rd. in St. George on Thursday afternoon.

Police said Wells was identified as a possible person of interest in their investigation Friday, but they later gathered evidence connecting him to the crime.

According to a press release, the suspect entered the credit union around 5:40, handed a teller a note demanding money, then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Wells’ bail was set at $10,000.
