HOLLADAY, Utah - A new store is coming to the site of the old Cottonwood Mall.
Smith's Food and Drug has big plans for the property at 4800 S. and Highland Dr.
All that remains right now is a Macy's store.
At one time there were plans to rebuild the mall including apartments, residences and offices.
Then the recession hit which put plans on hold.
Now new owners, the Howard Hughes Corporation, have taken over.
The group just announced a new tenant is moving in and moving forward with the project.
Smith's plans to build a 78,000-square-foot store near Macy's.
The group has not confirmed if any other stores will be moving in as well.
Smith's said it plans to be open for business at the end of 2016.
