62-year-old Magna man arrested after family argument ends in gunfire, standoff

MAGNA, Utah — A 62-year-old man is in custody after a police standoff in Magna Monday night.

Officers were called to a home near 8500 W. and 3500 S. after reports of a fight between family members got out of control.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said Kevin Holsten was allegedly arguing with relatives when he got a shotgun.

Lt. Hoyal said a family member tried to take away the weapon when a shot was fired into the wall.

No one was hit.

Hoyal said after that Holsten holed up inside the house.

After a short time, Holsten came out and no one was injured.

He is now facing charges for firing a weapon within county limits.
