WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Authorities have a suspect in custody after he allegedly rammed his car into other vehicles to get away from police.

The chase started Tuesday night when Utah County authorities and West Valley City Police were working to track down suspects believed to be connected to a shooting at K-Mart and other violent felonies.

At least one suspect is accused of firing gunshots in K-Mart while shoplifting and a separate robbery in Utah County.

West Valley officers found the suspects at an apartment when the police chase started.

Police said the suspect who was driving intentionally hit two other cars, and lost a front tire, in an effort to lose the officers near 3500 S. and 4000 W.

The chase ended when the driver slammed into a car with a young family inside at 3500 S. and Redwood Rd.

Two adults and a child went to the hospital with injuries and are expected to recover.

After the crash a K9 caught the male suspect who was driving and officers arrested him.

Authorities said the suspect went to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive.

A female passenger in the suspect's car was also seriously injured.

Officers said they discovered the suspect was driving a stolen car and found a loaded gun at the scene.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved at this time.
