SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – Officials stated a portion of eastbound I-80 had been closed in northern Summit County Saturday afternoon to allow a medical helicopter to land at the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle, but about 30 minutes later the closure was lifted.
According to officials with the North Summit Fire District, the crash is in the area of mile marker 172, and officials first reported the closure at about 3 p.m.
At about 3:30 p.m., officials said the medical helicopter had taken off and one lane had been reopened. A few minutes later officials stated the scene had been cleared and all lanes were open again.
Lawrence Hopper, Utah Highway Patrol, said the crash is a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle, but he said he did not have further details at this time and did not provide specific information regarding the injuries suffered in the crash.
