MOUNT OLYMPUS, Utah – Officials will close the upper portion of the hiking trail at Mount Olympus this weekend in order to make improvements.
Forest Service personnel said the section of trail will be closed Saturday and Sunday as their crews work with volunteers to improve the safety of the trail, which is designated as Forest Service Trail #455.
Cathy Kahlow, Salt Lake City District Ranger, said they will work to better define the route from the area of the saddle to the mountain’s peak. She said even experienced hikers can become disoriented because the rocks look different while descending than they do while hikers are coming up the trail.
The lower portion of the trail will be open on both days.
