Pioneer Day 5K takes participants ‘Temple to Temple’

Posted

PROVO, Utah – Thousands of people weren’t content to sit on the sidelines during Pioneer Day festivities Thursday, so they took part in a 5K run that is in its second year.

The Second Annual Temple to Temple 5K Run takes participants from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Provo Temple to the LDS Church’s newer Temple at Provo City Center.

Last year’s event began with a plan to walk from the LDS Temple in Provo to the newly refurbished Tabernacle in downtown, but the walk grew into a full-on event.

The event is family friendly, with many people pushing strollers rather than running for a competitive time. FOX 13 News’ Scott McKane spoke with some of those who participated, see the video above for his live report.
