SALEM, Utah — A man is dead after colliding with a vehicle in Salem Tuesday afternoon.
The accident took place at approximately 1:05 p.m. on State Route 164, according Utah Highway Patrol officials.
Darryl Roberts, the sole occupant of a white Buick, was traveling north when he stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of 1200 W. 8000 South.
It was raining at the time.
According to UHP Roberts was making a left-hand turn onto SR 164 when a motorist in a gray Ford Focus traveling east sped through the intersection at a high-rate of speed.
UHP reports that Roberts’ was t-boned after he pulled out in front of the Ford Focus.
Roberts died from his injuries.
The two occupants of the Ford Focus were transported to Mountain View Hospital with minor injuries.
There was no evidence of drugs or alcohol at the scene but UHP believes weather may have been a factor.
Roberts was not wearing a seat belt, according to UHP.
Shayna Hubbard, the driver of the Ford, and the right front passenger were wearing seat belts.
