AMERICAN FORK, Utah – A man was arrested Wednesday morning and faces several charges after allegedly smoking methamphetamine in a car while a young child was inside the vehicle.
A couple observed a man who they believed was acting erratic and who kept getting in and out of a car with a glass object and a lighter in his hand.
The couple called American Fork police, and Sgt. Joshua Stilson said when officers arrived they encountered a man named Jeffrey Fay who exhibited signs of impairment.
Stilson said police located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and said a 2-year-old boy was climbing around inside the vehicle. Witnesses reported they believed Fay was smoking inside the car.
Fay was booked into the Utah County Jail and faces charges that include possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, DUI and child endangerment.
The child was released into his mother’s custody.
