SALT LAKE CITY — A natural gas leak forced officials from the Salt Lake City Fire Department to evacuate 12 residents of seven homes Monday afternoon.
The gas leak and evacuation occurred around 3:40 near 232 N Canyon Rd. According to SLCFD officials, the gas leak started when a crew from the water department accidentally struck a gas line.
A repair crew from Questar Gas responded to the scene. The evacuees are expected to be allowed back in their homes around 4:45.
