SALT LAKE CITY — A natural gas leak forced officials from the Salt Lake City Fire Department to evacuate 12 residents of seven homes Monday afternoon.

The gas leak and evacuation occurred around 3:40 near 232 N Canyon Rd.  According to SLCFD officials, the gas leak started when a crew from the water department accidentally struck a gas line.
