WEST HAVEN, Utah — A 53-year-old woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after she stabbed a 12-year-old boy over disputed property, according to Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. when Shelly McGill went to Haven Point Apartments in West Haven to retrieve property she left at her ex-husband’s residence, said Sgt. Lane Findlay with the sheriff’s office.

While there, McGill’s ex-stepson believed McGill was taking property she wasn’t supposed to take so he called his dad, Findlay said. The boy’s father instructed him to call police.

While on the phone with dispatch, Findlay said, a fight broke out between the boy and McGill. At some point the boy was cut on the arm and stabbed in the stomach with a knife by McGill.

Findlay said the boy was taken to a hospital in Ogden with non-life threatening injuries.

McGill was booked into Weber County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, child abuse and damage/interrupt communication device.
