Elderly man shot in neck ID’d by West Valley police

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Police have identified the elderly man who was shot in the neck at his West Valley City home on Saturday night.

Robert Warren, 72, answered his door at around 10:30 p.m. and was shot twice in the neck, according to Unified police.

The victim’s wife told police the suspect ran off after the shooting.

Police searched the neighborhood with a canine unit but no arrest has been made.

The elderly man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but police expect him to survive his injuries.

Little information is known about the suspect. It is also unknown the type of weapon that was used because no shell casings were recovered.
