Police: Man wielding screwdriver stabs victim in SLC fight

SALT LAKE CITY — Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a man involved in a stabbing in Salt Lake City Saturday evening.

At approximately 5 p.m., two men got into an altercation in the area of 920 West and 500 South. Salt Lake City police say the victim was stabbed twice with a screwdriver.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with significant internal injuries.

“When he was transported he was having trouble breathing, so we’re thinking injury to the lung,” said Lt. Carl Merino with Salt Lake City police. “But by the time he was at the hospital it looks like he’s in better condition than what we originally thought.

The suspect in the stabbing is described as a Hispanic male.

He’s about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build. Police say the suspect has tattoos on his arms and one on his face.

He may be seen driving a red or green van.
