SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police arrested a man who they said approached a man and his 4-year-old son on the street and threatened the father with a knife, saying the child was his.
According to a watch log report, it happened just after noon Sunday near 200 South Rio Grande. Police said that Sathan Douongseng, 55, grabbed the boy and began to run away, but the father was able to pull his son back before the suspect escaped on foot.
Officers soon spotted Douongseng in Pioneer Park and took him into custody without incident, and said he faces aggravated kidnapping charges.
A police spokeswoman said there is no apparent link between the suspect and the boy. No one was injured.
