Overnight SLC stabbing leaves 1 injured, sends 2 men to jail, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — Two men were taken into custody after a stabbing sent one man to the hospital early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2:25 a.m., a Salt Lake City police officer was driving in the area of 300 West and 200 South when he saw two men beating up another man, said Lt. Mike Ross with Salt Lake City police.

During the course of the fight, Ross said, the victim was stabbed in the leg and hip and had $50 stolen from him.

The officer interrupted the fight and  took one man into custody. The second suspect fled the scene but was soon located. Both men were booked into Salt Lake County Jail.

One of the men was booked on aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. The other suspect was booked on fleeing police.

The victim was taken to an area hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive.
