BOISE, Idaho — The last time Brigham Young University’s football team took the field on a Friday, their defeat at the hands of Utah State University began a downward spiral of consecutive losses. A week 9 Friday night game against Boise State has continued to deepen that spiral.

The Broncos offense owned BYU’s defense from the opening possession and never looked back on their way to a 55-30 route on the Smurf Turf.

Boise quarterback Grant Hedrick’s 12-yard touchdown run began the point parade. Hedrick would strike three times through the air as well before the break. The Cougars got a touchdown run by Jamaal Williams and Christian Stewart found Colby Pearson for 81 yards in the 2nd quarter. But it wasn’t near enough offense to keep up with the Broncos.

Hedrick finished with 410 yards on 24 of 31 passes to lift Boise State up to 6-2. With the loss, BYU (4-4) suffers their fourth straight defeat, all after beginning the season 4-0 and being ranked as high as 19th in the country.

BYU plays next on November 1 at Middle Tennessee. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
