Officials said certain Evenflo Embrace 35 rear-facing infant child restraints use the Amsafe QT1 buckle that the U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said can become difficult to unlatch over time.

Safety officials said that could be problematic in emergency situations.

The affected car seats were made from December 2011 to May 2013.

The company said it will contact registered owners and send them a remedy kit with replacement buckle for free.

Evenflo said owners should not return the seats to retailers.
