OGDEN, Utah – Police said a suspect fired at least one shot at officers as authorities moved to make an arrest Tuesday night.

According to a press release, the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team took a wanted probation fugitive into custody Tuesday after tracking the man to a home in Ogden.

Lorenzo Puentes, 37, was on probation for possession of a deadly weapon with intent to assault.

The strike team, headed by the U.S. Marshals Service, includes members of multiple law enforcement agencies. Two members approached a home at 1066 28th Street in Ogden around 7:30 p.m. Puentes left the residence at that time and fired at least one shot at officers who were outside the home.

None of the officers were hit and they did not return fire. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended about a block away from the residence and taken into custody.

Police stated the man may face new charges in connection with the events of Tuesday night.
