SPANISH FORK, Utah — A freeway ramp near Spanish Fork closed Saturday afternoon while tow trucks worked to remove a semi-truck that caught fire on Interstate 15 Friday afternoon.
The explosion happened just after 2 p.m. on Friday when the truck, carrying thousands of gallons of fuel exploded.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck lost control as he came around a turn on the ramp and slid off the road, eventually flipping over.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Leslie Shelton, of Colorado, was transported to the University of Utah Hospital’s burn unit.
Shelton remains in critical condition.
