LOGAN, Utah — Utah State senior linebacker, Zack Vigil was given Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors, joining 14 other Aggies to receive post-season recognition Monday.
The former walk-on from Clearfield is 8th in the nation in tackles with 11.2 per game. He also finished 32nd across the country in sacks, and finished with 22 tackles in a win against Air Force.
That mark was tied for the most in a single game by any player this year.
Vigil’s younger brother, Nick joins Zach on the first team along with safety, Frankie Sutera, punt returner, JoJo Natson and offensive tackle, Kevin Whimpey.
15 Aggies all together were recognized by the Mountain West, the most of any team.
