SALT LAKE CITY — Police responded to a man shot in the cheek Sunday morning in downtown Salt Lake City.
At approximately 7:15 a.m., police received a call about a gunshot wound in the area of 414 W. 500 South.
Lt. Mike Ross with Salt Lake City police said the victim was standing across the street from a Maverick when a man pulled up in a white vehicle, rolled down the window, shot the victim in the cheek then drove away.
Ross said the victim didn’t know the suspect.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive his injury.
