WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- A West Valley City mall is catching heat over a holiday display.
Since November, Valley Fair Mall has had two reindeer in an enclosed area inside the building. During Monday’s report the animals were outside the mall in their pen.
Some shoppers have taken to social media to voice concerns over what they call inhumane conditions.
The Animal Rescue Media Education group filed a formal complaint with the USDA indicating the reindeer on display is not in compliance with federal regulations.
Mall officials and the veterinarian that cares for animals say no abuse or misconduct has taken place.
