TOOELE COUNTY, Utah – State legislators are hoping to add a new route in Tooele County to and from the Wasatch Front.
Sen. Aaron Osmond, R-West Jordan, wants to clear the way for a toll road through the south end of the Oquirrh Mountains, likely including a lengthy tunnel.
Tooele County commissioners say it isn’t at the top of their priorities right now.
“At this point, we’ve told the leaders of Herriman while we welcome the idea and certainly might be relevant for a long range plan, for us right now at this time it’s not at the top of our priority list for transportation needs,” said Tooele County Commissioner Shawn Milne.
The proposed route for a Tooele toll road would turn from the Bacchus Highway up Butterfield Canyon and down Middle Canyon into Tooele.
