Bank robbery suspect caught within 15 minutes of holdup, police say

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A bank robbery suspect was caught  less than 15 minutes after the robbery at a University Federal Credit Union in West Valley City, police said Tuesday evening.

At approximately 4:33 p.m., a man walked into the credit union, located at 2752 S. Redwood Road, and demanded money from the bank tellers, according to a release from West Valley City police. Employees were able to immediately trigger a hold-up alarm.

The suspect, identified as Tyrone Tillman, fled the bank in a vehicle.

A West Valley City police officer spotted Tillman’s car in the Lake Park area and conducted a stop.

The driver, Tillman, was taken into custody without incident at approximately 4:46 p.m., according to the release.

Items of evidence from the robbery were located on Tillman and in the vehicle, the release states.

Tillman was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on a charge of bank robbery.
