WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – An adult and several minors are in trouble with police after the juveniles allegedly stole booze before fleeing in a vehicle driven by the adult.
Police said several juveniles stole beer from a Wal-Mart in the area of 3100 South and 5600 West in West Valley City around 4 a.m. Saturday. Officials said the underage individuals then got into a car and fled. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, a short chase ensued that reached speeds of up to 80 mph.
After catching up with the suspects in the area of 3600 South and 3500 West, a 22-year-old man and four juveniles were taken into custody. The man would have been old enough to purchase beer but not distribute it to minors, and police said since the adult wasn’t drinking they aren’t sure what to charge him with. Officials said the four juveniles will likely be cited for underage drinking and theft.
