I-215 in Murray now open after downed power pole fell on roadway

MURRAY, Utah –Interstate 215 in Murray is now open in both directions after a power pole fell across two lanes of traffic Monday afternoon, forcing UHP troopers to close the interstate in both directions.

At approximately 5 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol closed off all lanes of travel, forcing drivers to exit at Redwood Rd.

According to UHP Sgt. Todd Royce, troopers called Rocky Mountain Power crews to the area when a transformer on a power pole started burning.

Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Adan Carillo said the power pole fell and blocked two lanes of I-215.
