PLAIN CITY, Utah – A man is in custody after officials said he was found with drugs in a school parking lot where he was talking to himself and scaring students.

The Weber County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found 42-year-old Eric Dean Monson, of Ogden, in the parking lot of Fremont High School at about 1 p.m. Monday.

A deputy tried to talk to him but Monson took off on his bike.

The deputy followed him to a house nearby where Monson barged inside and “caused a disturbance.”

Officials said Monson tried to fight the deputy inside the house.

The deputy had to used his Taser to take Monson into custody.

Monson is now facing numerous charges including criminal trespass, possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to stop for police, assault on a peace officer and obstruction of justice.

The deputy’s hand was injured during the arrest, he is expected to recover.

Officials are investigating why Monson was in the school parking lot with illegal narcotics.
