Police: Man damages 7 cars, 1 scooter after drinking with friends

SALT LAKE CITY — A 27-year-old man was taken into custody after he caused thousands of dollars in damage to several parked cars after he couldn’t find a friend’s vehicle Monday night, according to Salt Lake City police.

At approximately 12:25 a.m., Jefferson Miles had been drinking with his friends at 165 E. 200 South when he became upset and left on foot, according to the Salt Lake City police watch log.

The watch log indicates Jefferson became disoriented and ended up at 405 S. Main Street where he thought his friend’s car was parked.

The 27-year-old walked into the parking garage looking for his friend’s vehicle, but couldn’t find it.

At that point Miles began to damage several other cars parked in the garage. Seven cars, one scooter and a window on the building were all damaged causing an estimated damage of more than $5,000.

Miles was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of felony criminal mischief, public intoxication and outstanding warrants.
