BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Box Elder County Search and Rescue crews pulled a teenager and his grandfather out of Willard Bay Wednesday night after the boat they were in capsized.
Officials say winds caused the fishing boat to turn over. The pair clung to one life jacket until they were rescued.
The grandfather was taken to the hospital and the teen was treated and released at the scene.
“We want to remind people that boating is a great recreation opportunity this time of year but to use precautions, to take life jackets with you and to dress appropriately,” said Lt. Eric Stucki, spokesman with Utah State Parks. “Because you never know when the winds may come up and the boat may capsize and you may end up in the water.”
