WEST JORDAN, Utah - Authorities are searching for a suspect who is accused of stealing a truck and causing five accidents before he crashed in West Jordan.
Officials said the crime started at a Riverton farm where the suspect is accused of stealing a truck.
Authorities said the keys were left in the truck and the owner, Luke Peterson, didn't even know his truck was gone until police called him early Wednesday morning.
Peterson said he let his guard down by leaving the truck unlocked but said he has never had to worry about someone stealing his farm vehicles before.
Just before 6 a.m., police were forced to close a portion of Bangerter Highway.
Officers said the suspect rear-ended a car near 9000 S. which led to a crash with three other cars before and he ran from the stolen truck.
Emergency crews had to cut two of the crash victims from their cars.
Authorities said the victims are in the hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening.
Officials have not confirmed a description of the suspect but said they would like to speak with anyone who might have information at (801) 840-4000.
